The TypeWriter
In 1867, the first typewriter machine was patented by three men, Christopher Sholes, Carlos Glidden and Samuel Soule. The idea for the typewriter came from the invention of the printing press which was created by Johann Gutenberg.
Stock ticker
Though it is often said that Thomas Edison invented the stock ticker this is not true. The original stock ticker was invented in 1867 by Edward Calahan. But, Thomas Edison did invent the much more improved version between the years of 1868 and 1871.
cash register
The first patented cash register was invented by a man named James Ritty. He was a bartender who created the invention to keep his dishonest employees from pocketing money from his inventory. He came up with the idea on a steamboat and to this day the cash register is a huge success that has benefited millions of business owners.
calculating machine
William Seward Borroughs invented the first Adding or Calculating machine in 1885. He came up with the idea while working as a Bank Clerk. His machine didn't enter into the hands of other users until 1887 after adjustments had been made to make it easier for others to use.
